Sharjah SEC standardizes municipal department procedures for engineering and construction sectors

SHARJAH, 1st February, 2022 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Governor of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), presided over the council meeting on Tuesday at Al Badayer Oasis in the Al Madam area, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Governor of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the SEC, and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Governor of Sharjah.

The council approved the standardization of municipal service procedures for the engineering and construction sectors in Sharjah municipalities. He also discussed several topics on his agenda aligned with the vision and development of the Emirate of Sharjah in the service of its citizens and residents. The standardization of services is part of the government’s work to promote businesses, the competitiveness of public services, and to support digital transformation, which is one of the main pillars of the emirate’s strategy. It will contribute to the standardization of all procedures followed in municipalities, service outlets and distribution channels in the emirate, providing a clear and highly flexible mechanism while using modern technologies and digital means. The procedures reflect the efforts of the committees formed to study and assess the level of services and their pathways in coordination with service providers, partners and beneficiaries, and to reorganize services in accordance with modern standards. The council commended the efforts of the Department of Municipal Affairs, Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah, municipalities in the emirate and city councils to achieve unification of services for the engineering and of construction, stressing the need to expedite the work to unify the rest of the municipal services and government departments and entities in the Emirate of Sharjah. The council reviewed the study of the economic impact of the travel and tourism sector in the emirate. The study included the role of the tourism sector in enhancing the emirate’s image globally and supporting its economy through numerous tourism pillars. It also included standard indicators and comparisons on the direct contribution of the tourism sector to the domestic product of up to 8.7%, equivalent to AED10.8 billion, and the effects of tourism expenditure on tourism. national economy and the promotion of employment opportunities. The study provides a clear picture and future graphical indicators on the tourism and travel sector, helping to promote the best motivational decision-making framework and developing solutions and proposals for its development.
