LAHORE: Provincial Minister of Local Government and Community Development Department Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed said that the provision of high quality municipal services is assured to citizens in accordance with the vision of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Punjab.
Transparency in development projects and providing facilities to people on their doorstep are top priorities for the Punjab government, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed said in a meeting with a PTI delegation here on Sunday.
The delegation was led by Sabir Subhani. Waqas Amjad, Zeeshan Siddiqui and other PTI officials were also present. The minister said instructions had been issued to further accelerate development work on various projects carried out by the Department of Local Government.
All legal requirements are met for procurement and an effective monitoring mechanism has also been developed in this regard. He said that in the first phase of the investment program for the improvement of intermediate towns in Punjab, development projects were underway in Sialkot and Sahiwal at a cost of 44 billion rupees. Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Muzaffargarh, Rahimyar Khan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur and Multan will be included in the second phase of the same program.
He said work was underway to provide municipal infrastructure including water supply, sanitation, solid waste management, public parks and street lights in 16 cities at a cost of Rs 34 billion. He said the development projects were designed in accordance with international studies.
