Seeking to strengthen municipal services to the population, the northern company has partnered with a tech company as part of the Digital India initiative, officials said on Saturday. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and CSC e-Governance Services India Limited at the Civic Center here on Friday to facilitate better services to the citizens of North Delhi, they said.

The Common Service Centers (CSC) program is one of the mission mode projects of the Union Government’s Digital India program. The CSC was established by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to oversee the implementation of the CSC program. The CSC program provides a centralized collaborative framework for the delivery of services to citizens.

North Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said various online municipal services such as birth and death registration, property tax, e-transfer, health business license, general business license, Factory license application services, reservation of parks and community halls, tehbazari renewal, and hawking would be available online through these CHCs.

He said around 15 municipal services would be made available to citizens through around 816 CHCs run by the Union government.
Citizens who do not have access to IT infrastructure can benefit from several municipal services at CSC centers, Singh said, adding that it would now be easy for citizens to access municipal services through these centers.

City Commissioner Sanjay Goel said CHCs are the entry points for the provision of essential public services, social protection schemes, health care, financial services, education and agriculture and that now NDMC’s civic services would also be available to the citizens of North Delhi. It provides digital access and makes e-governance services available to citizens in their homes, he said.

Goel said the MoU is a step towards “digital India” and to provide municipal services to the citizens of North Delhi in the easiest way.
