A sanitation inspector and three others have been suspended pending an investigation after the district administration confirmed that some municipal staff were “involved” in the incident of the death of a few. dogs on Saturday, they said.

“According to reports, around 20 dogs were killed. City staff (involved in this incident) were supposed to catch the stray dogs and release them outside the city,” Siddipet city commissioner P Srinivas Reddy said.
Refuting reports that he had ordered the dogs to be injected with poison, Reddy called it “baseless and wrong.”
The district administration also ordered the appointment of the district revenue officer to investigate the incident.
On June 19, as many as 22 stray dogs were reportedly slaughtered by civic workers using sticks with poisoned needles in Vikarabad district, as a result of which a case was registered under section 429 of the IPC (kill or mutilate animals) and provisions of the law on the prevention of cruelty to animals. , police said.
