Lacson, 1st woman mayor of Magalang, seeks to return to town hall

The former mayor of Magalang, Maria Lourdes Paras Lacson, the first woman mayor of the city of Pampanga, is seeking a return to town hall.

Lacson, also executive assistant to the governor of Pampanga, Dennis Pineda, filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor, “promising to improve the delivery of services to people and to adhere to good governance”, according to a report. by Sun Star Pampanga.

“There is too much red tape these days and we have to stop it once I am elected in order to maximize service delivery,” she said.

“I will also improve the tax management of the local government,” added Lacson.

She was mayor of Magalang from 2016 to 2019, during which time the LGU received the seal of good local governance from the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government.

The report states that Lacson praised Pineda for helping the people of Magalang “despite the fact that I am not the sitting mayor”.
